so, still finding the holes in our life that used to be filled with Lola. Sometimes they're silly little things, like last night. Everytime I used pan spray on a baking pan, she would come in the kitchen and LICK IT OFF THE FLOOR (ew!) and it bugged me so much. Last night I made cornbread muffins, and she wasn't there to lick it off the floor and it sucked. ha! fickle mind!

Wolke 2002-2012

Postby vegematic » Sun Mar 11, 2012 3:50 am

We lost Wolke tonight. He was diagnosed at Christmas 2009 with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Tonight he threw a clot to his lower spine and lost all function in his tail and hind legs. His littermate (who lived with a friend of mine) had this happen not long after Woke's diagnosis, so I knew it was the end. We just got back from the emergency vet, sort of in disbelief still. He was living well, even if a little slowed down, up until this evening. Even this morning and this afternoon he was playing some of his favorite chase games.

I can't seem to post a picture of him, though...

Thanks Dugan and Bluedawg. Things are finally starting to feel a little more normal today. Still different, but a new normal. He was quite a character and I doubt we'll ever meet another cat like him. Our two remaining kitties seem to be settling into a Wolke-less routine as well.

I'm so sorry, vegematic. For those of us who appreciate animals as individuals, life is never the same when they're gone. Wolke was very lucky to be with you. I'm sure he had a phenomenal life.

Vegematic, what an awful shock! :cry: Still, how nice that he was having such fun right up until the end. I would love to hear some Wolke-stories, if you want to share, at some point. I hope the pain eases soon and you can remember him w/joy. {vegematic}

I've been thinking about you and Wolke this week. Many hugs, still.
