Grace O'Malley is growing an extra toe.

On the bottom of her right front paw, behind one of the pads. It's very strange. I just noticed it yesterday, and she's going to the vet tomorrow to have it looked at.

:uneasy: :(

It's got two almost-points on it...like a teeny little cloven hoof. :alien:

Dexter has a benign skin tumor on his belly, that's what this first made me think of first. But this looks more pinkish, maybe just because it's on her foot so it's more abraded? Hope it isn't causing her much trouble, I'm also curious what it is.

The vet said that he isn't sure what it is. :/ It could be a foreign body with tissue growth around it, in which case it might work itself out. Or not. Or it could be something else, like...I don't know. We're keeping an eye on it for now, as surgery is our only option if it doesn't magically resolve itself. Foot surgery isn't fun for anyone. :( She is not in apparent pain - no limping or favoring it. She licks it and chews on it a little. I want her to bite it off. :worried:

Oh!And we are going to try epsom salt soaks. If it's a foreign body, that might help it find its way out. When atomx gets home tonight, we'll see how that goes.

Amazing Grace didn't really care for the foot soak. We managed a few minutes before she squirmed away, spilling everything everywhere as she fled. :(

With this and her ears, I feel like I am torturing her. And she clearly felt crappy yesterday. She gave blood and had her foot looked at by the doctor. And then I cleaned her ears and poked at her foot and held it in a bucket of water. I feel mean.

But as we were cleaning up and making our bed, she was licking my toes from where she had "hidden" under the bed. Then she came out and got snuggled. I wish that I had a :magicwang: to make her all better.

Foreign body was my first guess. It kind of reminds me of when Zoe's body was rejecting her stitches. Everything got all lumpy and hard, and I thought she was going to be horribly scarred forever. Once the stitches were gone, the lumpy hardness went away almost immediately. Let's hope that's all it is for Grace.
