Not my dog: How can I help?

I know that I should be thinking along those lines. But I really want to extend a hand in friendship first, rather than complain about them. I don't care if their yard looks like crap. I'm more concerned about what that tells me - i.e., the dogs are outside and bored all day, and/or they are left outside so that they don't trash the inside of the house. I guess that I'm looking at the situation as a symptom of an underlying problem. Maybe they just need a little nudge, or a little help, to get things under control.

Of course, that nudge could certainly come from county services. But I will feel better if I talk to them first. Even if all that I can do is let them know that their dogs are shoe thieves...it's a start.

I have two giant dog crates. Maybe I could crate train Moses and Odin for them so that they can leave them indoors, at least.
