mantriarco reminded me that last summer, when we couldn't find barley malt powder, we made malts with barley malt syrup. Seemed fine to us, but I guess I don't really remember dairy malts.

When I make soy milk I usually do three batches in my Soyapower. Given the vagaries of measurement between the Soyapower jug and my storage jugs I usually have a cup or two left over. I usually indulge in some hot chocolate or chai. This time, inspired by DTN's post reminding me about barley malt powder and malted milk, I tossed a (big heaping) spoonful of malt powder into ~2 cups of soy milk. It was teh yumz. I imagine some might like it sweeter, but it was a nice treat just as it was.

I have this roasting rack that came with our, um, roasting pan. It's gone unused since we bought it. Any suggestions for uses? Or just recycle it?

You can use it for a cooling rack, if you don't already have one of those. Or an auxiliary dish rack. If it fits in a pan, you can use it to steam... seitan sausages! Stuff like that. :)

I use ours for making veggie burger patties, because they stick less and get done with out flipping!
everyone's right and no one is sorry, that's the start and the end of the story

We use silicon sheets or parchment when baking our veggie burgers. The parchment is so slick that RnR once dumped most of a panful into the oven while trying to remove it.
