I heard some folks were connecting on Facebook, but I'm not yet there. School is strongly pushing me to sign up with Facebook. The school itself makes many of its announcements only there. The friends I've made want to use it to connect. I don't care for social media and don't understand how it's become such a thing. I'll probably be scolding people to stay off my lawn pretty soon!

Well, I have to stay on Facebook because it's a lot easier organizing my local Chico vegan stuff there, but like Em, I far prefer forums. This one in particular.

I like the sense of community too - I'm glad to "see" everyone again!

We made the Crock Cheeze from Ultimate Uncheeze tonight. The recipe called for breaking a block of tofu in large chunks, putting them in a pot, covering with water, bringing it to a boil, and then simmering for 5 minutes. The tofu is drained and then cooled before adding everything else & pureeing it.

I'm curious if anyone knows - why simmer the tofu?

It's puréed, so it can't be for texture. Tofu doesn't need to be further cooked to be safe to eat. If it were only to remove water, then pressing it should be adequate. Filled with curiosity I am!

I don't know, but maybe it changes the flavor?
Pure speculation....

Why do I poke prod and palpate sore areas?

I do that, too. It's interesting! And maybe itchy...?
Maybe it actually helps healing. I'm talking out my butt, BTW.
