Random Brags

RnR and I are feeling pretty chuffed after successfully repairing the dryer. All it needed was the belt replaced, but still, neither of us is terribly handy.

It starts with just a dryer belt, next thing you know you'll be... replacing a washing machine belt? :D

I want to celebrate this victory with you, quagga, except I'm just not surprised to hear you got an A in ornithology! :D

woot! way to go!

my brag is about my son. He tried out for jazz choir at his school (by singing "Son of Sam" by Elliot Smith, be still my heart) and made it in! It's the highest choir they have, and his school won state in choir this year, so I'm super proud & excited for him! This happened the day after he sang a duet to "What a Wonderful World" in his choir concert & was voted "most inspirational singer" by his peers in his freshman boy's choir. WOW!
everyone's right and no one is sorry, that's the start and the end of the story

Wow, how exciting!

I have a brag about my son, too. He just spent 8 days camping/hiking/canoeing with his 8th grade class. This is the culmination not only of 8th grade, but of his 8 years at this k-8 school, and it's part of a year-long program to get them ready for high school and give them closure on their time at this school.

When I went to pick up a few of the kids from the campsite this morning for the trip home, one of the teachers (his 1st grade teacher-turned-PE-teacher, So he's been learning from her in some form for 8 years) pulled me aside and said that he was such a pleasure to have on the trip, and that she'd told him how great he was and to never change his easy-going personality. She got all teary-eyed and said she'd miss me, too.
