Good links, as usual, shiva. I'll get to the rest, but just read on The Vegan R.D., about the girl who was vegan and then went back to her first love, bacon.

Everyone needs to eat a balanced diet, vegan or not. Eating cheese and bacon isn't balanced, and why would people think that all you need to eat is meat and then everything is covered?
I have had several people ask me if I was getting enough protein and "aren't you taking a chance?" if you don't eat meat? When I have tried to explain, they get glassy eyed, so I know they have quit listening. We are such a meat conditioned country. I remember when some Chinese people came to visit my workplace for about a month. Some of the management took them out to eat once. The big guys ordered steaks all around. As they were being served, the Chinese weren't all served at the same time, and they starting cutting up the meat in order to share it with each other. They couldn't believe that we ate that much meat in one meal by ourselves.

We all need to educate ourselves, yet we need to be careful, 'cause some people don't know what the f*** they are talking about.

Excellent link, gladcow. I'm not going to lie and said I have already read it all, but it looks like it's full of good info. You guys know your stuff.

Boston Vegan Association's Demystifying Vegan Nutrition. The pamphlet is nice and colorful, and you can order free copies, but you can't download it unless you subscribe to Scribd, for now. Eric (Prescott) is going to fix that.
