Top Cosmetic Companies Quietly Resume Cruel Animal Testing

After two decades of touting their "no animal testing" policies, Avon, Estée Lauder, and Mary Kay have quietly resumed paying for cruel tests on animals—without letting consumers know about this stunning about-face. After confirming with each company that chemicals are being dripped into rabbits' eyes and that substances are being rubbed onto animals' skin because of requirements of the Chinese government in order to market products in that country, PETA has downgraded the companies to our "do test" list.

:brood: that is just sickening.

on a brighter note, I actually found a cruelty-free oven cleaner! Carbona Oven Cleaner
The company in general, however, is not cruelty-free. :S

Time to find a new hair care line! (I've been using Aveda.)

I found this company through Tumblr http://www.limecrimemakeup.com/categories/lipstick/

I'm wondering if Revlon is also doing this? I assume if they were it would on the list.

Is Aveda on their list? Oh, OK, Aveda seems to be owned by Estee Lauder? But Aveda itself is still on the "OK" list; not sure if they have a separate policy or what.

aveda and origins are both owned by estee lauder, and this news has me totally fuming (and really bummed). i have been using aveda pretty much exclusively for well over 10 years, and i have started using more and more origins stuff. UGH.

I've been using MAC and was finally happy to have found "my" foundation. Oh, sigh.
