...and it looks like the definition of a service animal under the ADA has changed (as of 15 Mar 2011) and miniature horses are not included in the definition, but they can be used, subject to certain limitations. So the WA bill may be broadening the definition after all. :thinking:

And the guy who used his snake as a service animal was on the radio. He suffers from epilepsy, and he said the snake was trained to recognize an impending seizure, and give the man a gentle "hug," so he could get himself to a safe place for the seizure. With snakes not being recognized as service animals, he will not be able to leave the house. :(

Yeah, I suppose dogs could get trained to predict a seizure, too. I can see why he's comfortable with the animal with whom he's already developed that relationship. It's not fair for him to have to develop a new relationship with a new animal just because of an arbitrary change of definition.
