Thyme cough syrup

Postby shananigans » Tue Mar 22, 2011 10:02 pm

I'm not really sure where to put this, but it's kind of a recipe so it goes here?

I heard about thyme cough syrup on the radio a while ago, and I've had a persistent throat tickle lately so I decided to give it a try. I put 1 T dried thyme in one of the little cotton drawstring bags I use for loose tea, steeped in 1 c boiling water. After it cooled, I shook it up in a jar with some maple syrup and lemon juice (1-2 T of each maybe?). Stuck it in the fridge and I've been downing a Tbsp. full a few times a day. It really seems to help thin out the mucus and make coughing easier, and it doesn't taste bad at all! I recommend it.
