It's a film re. Dorothy Parker's life starting from about the round table era. I don't know the degree of accuracy but I found it enjoyable nonetheless.

Calendar Girls. Turns out it was just the message I need right now - women are beautiful regardless of age, shape, or size!

I saw Kickass 2 today. I hadn't seen the original, but I don't think it mattered much. Overall I thought it was fun and entertaining, but it was also extremely violent and a bit creepy at times. The creepiness is hard to explain. I think it comes from me not being exposed to normal media so much.... so it was mainly related to teens talking about taking "bathsalts" and saying "fucking" to mean sex... and assuming that people are "fucking" if they are hanging out together or like each other (romantically or not). Maybe I'm becoming an old fuddy-duddy, but things like that make me cringe and worry about young people these days. :/  Plus, like I said, it was really violent... and mostly not in the tongue-in-cheek way I was expecting.

I liked Kickass and was kind of interested in Kickass 2 - in the sense of being curious about what comes next - but I'm not hopeful after reading your description.

I haven't seen it, but I overheard someone say that Niven's Ringworld is being made into a miniseries! I'll have to see it, if only to see if their vision of a Pearson's Puppeteer matches mine.

Kickass 2 might be better for people who are already fans. I didn't have anything to compare it to. Mostly it was entertaining and fun. Maybe you could see a matinee? That's what I do when I want to see a movie I'm not sure about. Sure, you can't get the two hours back, but at least you can get yourself a box of Tofutti Cuties with the money you save!
